Southwest Functional Medicine understands that each individual is unique. Each symptom, history, and reason for treatment is different. We utilize all-natural treatment plans to correct the source of the symptoms, not just mask the symptoms. We believe that if you treat the source of the symptoms, the symptoms will disappear and total body wellness will be achieved. We create an all-natural personalized plan for every one of our patients based off their story and lifestyle. Our all-natural treatment plan for you may look something like this:
One on one appointments
Adding to what is mentioned above, each individual is unique. We understand that coming to Southwest Functional Medicine is some of our patients last chance at hope. We care about each and every one of our patients and strive to provide the best treatment possible. One on one appointments allow us to develop a deeper understanding of what is occurring and what is affecting the body. We approach health conditions from all angles, including spiritual, mental, and physical. In order to best provide for you, we know how important it is to have uninterrupted time with a doctor, and not just a quick 15 minute appointment.
The past we carry can be heavy. We have our patients complete a detailed life history that we will then go over during your one on one appointments. This history provides us with information that previous doctors may have not connected with your current health status. Questions like where you grew up, mold exposure, dental fillings, and more will be asked. These small details add up to a substantial amount of information that allows us to better direct your laboratory testing.
Diagnostics (lab work)
Lab testing is critical. This is where we start to break the body down and align facts. Diagnostic tests are different per patient. Some patients require few while others require more. Either way, these results provide insight into what is happening all the way down to the molecular level. By allowing us to see the amount of certain hormones being produced and when, the specific bacterias and yeats in the gastrointestinal tract, and the neurotransmitters that affect the signaling pathways throughout the body. Diagnostic testing provides us with the information we need to finish building your personalized treatment plan.
Part of holistic medicine is understanding that the body is what heals you. The human body is incredible, and when given the right support it can overcome health challenges. Oftentimes, our personalized plans involve lifestyle changes. A lifestyle change is committing to making reasonable differences in your habits to provide the healing your body needs. Lifestyle changes can include nutritional wellness, chiropractic care, exercise, meditation, journaling, and other activities along these lines.
Success comes from a team. Every leader, every role model, everyone who has accomplished a task has had a mentor and a support system. Health coaching is here for you so you are able to attain optimal results. Health coaching keeps you accountable and works with your specific goals. We have weekly check-ins to see how things are going and to make adjustments. Our health coaches are there to encourage you and answer any questions you may have along the way. Communicating with our health coaches is simple so you are sure to get the help you need when you need it. We use an app easily downloadable on any smartphone. Our app allows you to simply track all the food you are eating and your health coach gets notified. In addition to this, our app connects to FitBit, Apple Watch, or we can provide you with a smartwatch band to track sleep patterns, exercise, heart rate, and steps. Lastly, one of the best components of the app and health coaching is the scale that comes with it. This scale automatically connects to the app and updates your coach with current information such as weight, BMI, water mass changes, and lean body mass. This app also allows you to instant message your coach a quick question or have video call check-ins.
